Mini Collage Doodles
What is a "Collage Doodle”?
This term could mean different things to different people. The way I use it, it's a form of sketching—not a full art piece, but a practice piece on a limited canvas.
In my larger works, especially journal spreads, I try to leave space for writing. Sometimes I'm inspired to fill a page completely with stickers and paper, and then no writing is needed. These mini works follow the same idea, with a canvas as small as 2.5"×3" across two pages. However, it would be fun one day to try and work on a spread that does allow for tiny words too!
“Fairy Diary” by: Sugarboo & Co.
Alt: A collage of cosmic-themed stickers shows a crescent moon, starbursts, and a small image of the moon arranged above a black-and-white vase of flowers. A translucent line-drawn face overlaps blocks of pink and space textures on the left page, with a tiny ink bottle and a skull silhouette near the bottom.
Alt: Both pages are filled with raised green botanical motifs. Stylized vines, leaves, and small blossoms curve across the spread in a repeating pattern. The shapes are crisp and decorative, like an ornamental print.
Alt: The left page combines a houseplant and eye motif above stones and a tiny blooming sprig. On the right page, sepia-toned flowers, a fern, and a circular emblem with a rose over an open hand are layered together, secured with a strip of dark “tape.” The elements feel botanical and slightly mystical.
Alt: Large botanical stickers show blue poppy-like flowers with serrated leaves on the left page. The right page mirrors the theme with three red-and-blue feathery blossoms over pastel geometric backings. The composition pairs bold flowers with soft checkered and color-blocked grounds.
Alt: Ephemera and nature pieces overlap: long leaves on a vine drape over a small printed postcard with handwriting above a feather quill. An ornate keyhole plate sits on the right page, with butterflies and a tiny green leaf clustered around it.
Alt: A moth and botanical cutouts frame a grayscale woodland scene in a scalloped border. On the right, pale woodland silhouettes surround a quote card: "The wise man knows that it is better to sit on the banks of a remote mountain stream than to be emperor of the world. —Zhuangzi." A candle and seedpod shapes accent the spread.
